What is WAM NY?

Women Advancing Microfinance (WAM) a professional, not-for-profit networking group in New York City bridging the community of supporters, practitioners and leaders in microfinance. 

WAM NY aims to advance women's participation and leadership in the microfinance industry. The cornerstone of our mission is the WAM NY Scholarship Fund for women in microfinance within developing areas, providing access needed training & development.

Join today NY Chapter members benefit from an active schedule of networking events, professional workshops, and connecting with others in the global microfinance community. Join or renew your WAM-NY membership for $40. This gives you free entrance to most events for 2013. (And $10 of membership fee supports the scholarship fund.)

What is the WAM NY Scholarship fund?

Each year, WAM NY awards scholarship funds to women microfinance practitioners for leadership & professional development courses. Scholarship funds are raised through membership dues, donations & special events. To date, we have raised over $40,000 for scholarships.

Anara Maksytova, First Microcredit Company, Kyrgyzstan to attend the "Certified Expert in Microfinance" e-learning course of the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
Aumau Fau, SPBD Microfinance, Samoa to attend the MicroSave Applied Microfinance Institute in Asia.
Darling Diaz, Pro Mujer, Nicaragua to attend Boulder Latin America.
Farida Khushdil, The First Microfinance Bank, Afghanistan to attend Boulder Turin. 
Nora Ajagjal, Aga Khan Training Academy, Kenya to attend the Diploma in Market-Oriented Small Business Development Services Program at ILO International Training Center.
Patsy Mayorga, Pro Mujer, Nicaragua to attend a post-graduate course in Advanced Finance at the Universidad Americana, Nicaragua. 
Essi Digo, Plan Togo to attend the Savings Group Management Information Systems Workshop at SMDP Togo.
